Sailing

Yachting facilities in Gibraltar include a choice of two marinas and a service and support network that would grace many larger ports. The distinctive British atmosphere of Gibraltar and its marinas is an added attraction for visiting yachtsmen.

The marinas provide yachts with a wide choice of location and facilities. There is a total of 450 berths with depths of up to 4.5 metres capable of taking super yachts up to 100 metres in length.

Marina Bay
In a tranquil location just north of the Rock is Marina Bay, built in 1979 and developed into a multi-service facility. It is operated by Marina Bay Complex Ltd, a private company established in 1984.

Shoreside developments include an impressive array of restaurants and bars overlooking the marina, a range of retail outlets including a supermarket, a medical clinic and various businesses located in Neptune House.

The marina itself contains 209 berths and can accommodate yachts up to 100 metres in length. Help and advice is always available from the pier office at the entrance to the marina.

Each berth is fitted with a total facility point including fresh water, power, telephone, fax, satellite TV and security connections. These points are connected to a computer in the main office so that berthing fees and extras can be prepared at a moment's notice, allowing yachts to get under way without delay.

Queensway Quay
Queensway Quay Marina, formerly part of Taylor Woodrow's waterside development, became privately owned in 2001. It has an impressive backdrop of residential complexes and a choice of stylish restaurants and bars. The marina is just a short walk from shops in the town centre.

Queensway Quay was originally developed in 1994 as a marina with two Mediterranean-style residential complexes of 125 and 56 apartments.

With a minimum depth of 3.5 metres, the marina can accommodate yachts up to 80 metres in length. All berths have power, water and telephone connections. All pontoons are accessed through a security gate with pass numbers.

Shoreside services include fuel, a chandlery, a yacht agency, a marine electronics company, a sailing school, a laundrette and a travel agency.

To contact Queensway Quay Marina please send an email to qqmarina@gibnet.gi
