The Gibraltar Broadcasting Corporation was created in 1963 under the Gibraltar Broadcasting Corporation Ordinance to "maintain a sound and television broadcasting service as a means of information, education and entertainment and to develop the service to the best advantage and interest of Gibraltar".
The activities of the Corporation are controlled and governed by a Board consisting of a Chairman and not more than seven members appointed by the Governor.
Subject only to any directions of the Governor-in-Council the Board is responsible for the Corporation's policy.

Gibraltar's daily newspaper established in 1801 the Chronicle is the oldest media on the Rock and amongst the world's oldest newspapers in continuous production.
The paper's ownership is structured as a trust and operates under of the obligations of a charter partly modelled on the Irish Times so as to ensure it is not political partisan, but is fair and factual in its editorial content. The newspaper is published daily except Sunday's and has a broad readership locally as well as being subscribed to by leading institutions worldwide.

The Gibraltar newsweekly Panorama is published on Mondays. It is known for its exclusive news and reports, complemented by a range of features and columnist's as you would expect in a general interest newspaper. It describes itself as Gibraltar's leading weekly, Independent and free. It pioneered opinion polls in Gibraltar and has, since1976, correctly forecast all election winners. Gibraltar's Monthly Leisure magazine was established in 1995. The Gibraltar Magazine contains articles and features on subjects such as Gibraltar's business, wildlife, personalities, wining and dining, history, heritage and much more. Aimed at residents of the Rock and frequent visitors.

Vox was established in March 18th 1955 and is totally independent bi-lingual weekly publication. It has had an ongoing campaign against drug trafficking and consumption for many years and continues to do so. The previous Editor, Eddie Campello, was the Doyen of the Gibraltar Press Corps and had entrusted the correspondency for the Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror, Time Life, Evening Standard and National Enquirer. Vox is published on Fridays.
